NEWS: We updated and replaced several servers. Here are some details:

Linux:

- The scratch space on /clusta and /clustb has been increased up to 8 TB each. In addition to the previously mounted clusta and /clustb the new scratch space on /clustc and /clustd with 8 TB each, was added.

- /clusta and /clustb are available on ibicluster and ibifast

- /clustc and clustd are available on jpcluster and brdfcluster

- brdfgate has mounts for all clusters (clusta, clustb, clustc, and clustd)

- The file servers holding the user home directories “/userhome” and “/userhom1” have been replaced with RAID 6 capable file servers with expanded available storage.

- BRDFAPPS and BRDFBMEM were phased out in favor of BRDFBIGL, which has 16 processors, and 256G of memory.

- We have deployed a new main cluster known as ibicluster to service all iBi users currently there are 256 nodes on the cluster . We have also deployed a new fast cluster known as ibifast to replace brdffast – this cluster has 64 nodes and maintains the 24 hour time to live for jobs as the cluster it replaced.

- Brdfcluster remains in service. Only people who have reserved nodes before the upgrade can use this cluster. All other users should send jobs to ibicluster.

Please check the cluster usage page for details: http://brdfhelp.uchicago.edu/cluster.htm

Windows:

New Windows server BRDFBIGW - It is a very powerful server : 16 processors, 128G of memory running under Windows 2003 server operating system ,64 bits. This server replaces the old server BRDFWAPPS
You can use your brdf user id and password and remote on the server(use Remote Desktop)

Application running on the server:

- Microsoft Office 2007 (Excel, Word, Groove, InfoPath, OneNote, PowerPoint, Publisher, Visio, Word, Project, SharePoint Designer)

- Wolfram Mathematica

- CNAG

- HaploView

- ActivePerl

- WinZip

- Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 (Visual Basic .NET, C#...)

- EndNote

- Stata 10

- S-PLUS 8.0

- Adobe Creative Suite 3 (includes Dreamweaver, Bridge, Flash Professional, InDesign, Acrobat Professional, StockPhotos)

- MATLAB

Our Mission:

We are developing a managed shared resource for Biomedical Informatics Computing for the Biological Sciences Division. Resources include disk storage, scientific databases, and computational engines: Sun SPARC, x86 - 32 and 64 bit processors, computational clusters. supported OS include Windows Server, RedHat Linux Enterprise, and Sun OS.
